hanidar is a fantasy world, socially and technologically similar to 13th Century Europe (with the obvious difference of magic and magical/fantastic creatures.) I have a map of this world. This link opens a new window, as the map is large. Click on an area of the map do see an enlarged portion of that area of the map. Specifically, Shanidar is the small section in the northwest corner of the known world. It is the origin area of human habitation, but has long been a backwater, until recently. To see the specific area that the current game takes place within, click here.Humans are not native to this area of the world. For a description of humans arrival in this world, see Origins and History.
The majority of the known world is ruled, to a large extent, by a single Church (although this Church is pantheonistic, not monotheistic.) For more detail see Religion in Shanidar.
The population of Shanidar is overwhelmingly human. Dwarves are all but extinct in the Shandarin region of the world. There are also several elf-like races, called the Elkyri, long-lived, but small in numbers, powerful, yet largely reclusive. There are also some intelligent beastlike races, which exist largely as servants of the human race. The Church's view on these races has varied through the years, but, currently, all are accepted to some degree. Half-orcs, as well as orcs, goblins and trolls are considered animals, at best, and demonic creations by some. (For more information see Race in Shanidar.)
The world of Shanidar is designed for a play-by-email game using Rolemaster Standard System (RMSS) rules. If you are not familiar with these rules, read my Player's Synopsis. I realize that the links for Training Packages do not work, but have not had time to complete them.
